State of Play 720p BluRay x264-REFiNED

Just watched State of Play in BluRay last night, let me tell you, they're not making movies like this any more. State of Play is a smart political thriller, that will keep on the edge the whole time, you'll get enough action, killings, bad-ass crazy hitmen, mean politicians, good journalists, all in all, great acting and a great movie. The ending from State of Play is of course surprising, you won't predict the outcome. or can you?

The key role is played by Russell Crowe, Cal McAffrey is a 'seasoned' journalist, with years of experience, typing his articles on a 14 years old computer. He knows a lot of people, lots of high placed connections, so when he gets on to a story, it's only a matter of time until he figures all the pieces of the puzzle. His college buddy Stephen Collins (Ben Affleck) is a bigshot now, a congressman who is after a big and mean military organisation called PointCorp.

Things get messy when Collins's mistress gets killed, McAffrey is after the truth, but a veil of lies and deceit makes the search quite difficult and dangerous.

Funny thing, Russell Crowe's character also had a romantic relationship with Collins's wife, played by Robin Wright Penn.

I don't know, Russell Crowe gained a few pounds, six-pack all the way, somehow I can't imagine him starring in a new Gladiator film. The man has a temper, but in the movie he was quite nice and beeing a sport for the fellow colleagues, Rachel McAdams and Helen Mirren.

But he shines nevertheless, he has style, you'll understand why he gets the big bucks.
